The incident, which unfolded on Tuesday evening, shocked the community. Residents, such as John Prickett, who lives near the Mohn residence, expressed their shock over the horrifying incident. Michael Prickett, who was childhood friends with Mohn, remembered him as a "great kid" during their early years, playing hockey around the neighborhood. However, Mohn's demeanor changed significantly after high school.
According to Michael Prickett, Mohn had been obsessed with conspiracy theories for the past decade, frequently expressing beliefs that the government was conspiring against him and asserting that he should be the president. This shift in behavior became apparent during Mohn's college years.
Davis Rebhan, who lived with Mohn in Colorado Springs in 2016, described Mohn as someone who often told exaggerated stories and expressed unconventional beliefs, particularly focused on conspiracy theories. Rebhan mentioned that Mohn's living arrangements turned tumultuous after he caused significant damage to their shared apartment. Mohn's erratic behavior and lack of social connections were evident during this time.
It was revealed that Mohn had self-published seven books with dystopian themes, all removed from Amazon after news of the alleged murder surfaced. One of the books, titled "The Revolution Leader’s Survival Guide," contained a transcript of a letter to then-President Donald Trump warning of a "peaceful revolution." Another book, "The Second Messiah: King of Earth," loosely based on Mohn's life, referred to a four-year stay in Colorado resulting in multiple lawsuits.
Mohn also had a presence on Spotify, where he uploaded four original albums with apocalyptic themes. His music and writings, which conveyed apocalyptic and revolutionary ideas, provided insight into his troubled mindset.
The Levittown neighborhood, where the Mohn family lived, was quiet but stunned by the incident. Neighbors recalled Justin Mohn's peculiar behavior, with one resident mentioning that he would frequently walk up and down the street, smoking or sitting on the curb. Keanya Horton, a neighbor, kept her children home from school due to the police activity overnight.
Michael Prickett, reflecting on the tragedy, expressed disbelief at the drastic change in Mohn's behavior. He remembered Mohn's father as a deeply supportive figure in his life, making the shocking event even more difficult to comprehend. The YouTube video, depicting a gruesome act by someone once known as a "great kid," left the community in shock and disbelief.
